Helen was born in Barrow-in-Furness. After working as a professional archaeologist, she served as Curate of St Gabriel’s Heaton, Full-time Adult Education Adviser in the Diocese of Newcastle and then as Vicar of Bedlington. Prior to coming to the Moorland group she carried out extensive theological research on behalf of ‘Churches Together in the North East’ and Durham University, as part of their ground-breaking ‘Receptive Ecumenism’ programme.
She is a graduate of Birmingham, Newcastle and Durham Universities and has published numerous articles on adult learning and the churches and music and theology and co-authored a book on that subject. She is also well-known as a wine writer and educator.
